Invitation: International Open Access Week
"It Matters How We Open Knowledge: Building Structural Equity." This is the motto of this year's International Open Access Week. The theme is deliberately based on the recently published UNESCO Recommendation for Open Science.
ZB MED has therefore also placed Open Science at the center of its activities surrounding Open Access Week. A series of blog posts (in German) provides a review of the Open Science Barcamp, which ZB MED organized online in June 2021 together with TH Köln. The students, who did much of the organizing for the Barcamp, shed light in their texts on the one hand on the various facets of Open Science, such as open licenses, research software, or even digital long-term archiving. On the other hand, they provide insights behind the scenes and report, for example, on which online platform they chose to hold the event, what the reasons were, and whether it was the right way to go.
To kick off Open Access Week, here's an introductory post today about the barcamp and how it's organized. Further blog posts on the individual topics will follow daily until October 31, 2021.
