For the 60th time, the DFG is compiling up-to-date scientific recommendations on the risk assessment of substances used in the workplace.

The Permanent Senate Commission for the Investigation of Health Hazards of Chemical Compounds in the Workplace of the German Research Foundation (DFG) publishes the list of MAK and BAT values every year. It forms the main basis for changes to the Hazardous Substances Ordinance in Germany and beyond.

Since 2020, the MAK and BAT value list has been published in German, English and Spanish in open access on PUBLISSO, the ZB MED publication portal for the life sciences.

The MAK and BAT values list and the journal The MAK Collection for Occupational Health and Safety together form the publication series MAK Collection. The abbreviation MAK stands for Maximum Workplace Concentration, BAT for Biological Agent Tolerance Values.
