New NACHGEFRAGT video with Julia Fürst
Data stewards are people who are responsible in the research process for ensuring the quality of data sets, including their metadata. They take on important tasks in research data management to make research data traceable and reusable - so much for the general view of this relatively new job description. However, the job profiles of data stewards vary widely. There is no generally valid definition, as a study conducted as part of the ZB MED project DataStew has shown.
In the new NACHGEFRAGT video, Elke Roesner talks to Julia Fürst. She is a data steward at the ZB MED in the NFDI4Health consortium. Her tasks are typical for the job of a data steward. Julia Fürst tells us what her day-to-day work is like, what qualities and skills are needed, what she particularly likes and where the challenges lie. She also explains why data stewards are essential for research, acting as a link between researchers, IT and other areas.
